Viña los Nogales - Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot - 2021 [Cachapoal Valley - Chile].
Viña de los Nogales can be found in the warm & central part of Chile, with just an hour drive from the capital city (Santiago). The vineyards were planted in 1999 & can be found on a very unique location; where the Andes Mountains are joining the coastal mountains. The space between those mountains used to be a lagoon. Throughout the years, the lagoon disappeared & the space transformed into an excellent place for viniculture. Now, the 173 hectares of vines from Viña de Los Nogales are flaunting & giving this sandy and stoney area some character, just a few metres from the San Francesco river. Due to the hot summers, the grapes have a long ripening season, which allows the grapes to retain a good acid level for the fruit freshness of the wines.
The grapes are coming from the San Jorge vineyard, which is located in the middle of the Cachapoal valley.

Vinification & Maturing of the Wine | The grapes were harvested both mechanically and manually during the first few days of April. They were placed in stainless steel tanks where, following a brief 2-day pre-fermentative maceration, yeast was added to commence its alcoholic fermentation. This lasted 8 days, at temperatures between 22° and 25°C. After that, the wine was decanted and remained in contact with French oak for a period of 6 months, after which it was gently filtered, before bottling. |
Tasting Notes | In the nose it offers intense aromas of red fruits, such as strawberries, cherries and raspberries, as well as those of black fruits such as blueberries, blackberries and black plums, in addition to well-integrated aromas of toasted oak and caramel. The wine feels silky in the mouth, with a medium volume, fruit flavours blended with the oak and a long finish. |
Recommendations | We recommend to serve this wine at a temperature between 16 & 18 degrees Celsius. |
