Tiberini Rosso di Montepulciano - Prugnolo Gentile, Mammolo & Canaiolo Nero - 2016 [Montepulciano, Italy].
Tiberini is a small biological & family-owned farm located in le Caggiole Valley (at the slope of Montepulciano city). Montepulciano is situated on a hill, which is in the exact centre between Val d'orcia & Val di Chiana. The owners of Tiberini call the estate a farm as they have 16.5 hectares of vines & 2 hectares of olives. They focus on natural maturing, natural soil conditions & traditional upholsteries, such as copper & sulphur. They want to reduce the usage of these products in their production in order to safe the biodiversity, soil & environment. We would love to present you this wine, as it is one of our hidden pearls. Let's celebrate your special moments with this amazing wine of Tuscany.

Vinfication & Maturing of the Wine | The harvest took place at the second week of October by hand. After the harvest, the grapes are moved to the wine cellar of Tiberini. After a cold pre-maceration, the grapes are immediately destemmed and pressed, they are let ferment on peels with natural yeasts within stainless steel tank for 24 days, at a controlled temperature. To keep the extraction of its territorial characteristics, the wine goes through many assembling and dèlestage phases. Malolactic fermentation occurs immediately after the alcoholic fermentation. Wine’s maturation occurs in a period of approximately 24 months with different phases within French Allier and Vosges durmast tonneaux and within barrels made of French and Slavonija (region in Croatia) durmast. The purpose of this process is to accent the specific characteristics of the area. After a 6 months ageing in bottle, the wine is ready. |
Tasting Notes | The wine has a ruby red colour with a light violet mark. In the nose, some hints of red fruit (in particular the local prune variety), as well as tabacco & leather. It tastes strong, firm & long-lasting in the mouth. A good structure and a bit of soft tannins. |
Recommendation | We recommend to serve this wine at a temperature between 18 & 20 degrees. It is recommended to open the bottle 2 hours before consuming. A perfect match with pasta, various preparations of meat, a selection of cheeses or as aperitif. |
