Kleine Rust - Semi Sweet - 2022 [Stellenbosch - South-Africa].
Stellenrust is one of the largest family-owned wine estates in South-Africa. They started their estate in 1928 and expended over the years. Nowadays, they have almost 400 hectares of land spread out over the 'Golden triangle' & Bottelary Hills. This sub-region is not only known because of its impressive landscape, but it is also the residence of the most famous wine producers of the country. The wine maker Tertius Boshoff highly values a fair-trade product. In 2005, they decided to give a little back to their 70 employees & gave them a permanent contract and empowered them on 100 hectares of their land, as main shareholders. Vinification & Maturing of the Wine
The grapes are picked from 5 till 50 years old bush vines located on the Bottelary Hills. After the harvest, the grapes are moved to the cellar. Here, the juice allowed some skin contact with the grapes & starts some wild yeast fermentation. The Muscat is picked as noble late harvest when the grapes have picked up Botrytis & fermented a bit. This component of sweet wine is blended with the Chenin Blanc & Sauvignon Blanc to a balanced level of sweetness & freshness. It is cold fermented in stainless steel tanks (at a controlled temperature between 11 & 15 degrees Celsius. Left on its lees for about 3 months.
Tasting Notes
In the nose, you will notice the sweet muscat spices with notes of pineapple & tropical fruit. On the palate, the wine is rich, lovely level of freshness & a lingering aftertaste.
Recommendation
We recommend to serve this wine at a temperature between 7 & 9 degrees Celsius. Great to start with & to celebrate special moments with loved ones.
