Kleine Rust - pinotage, syrah - 2021 [Stellenbosch - South-Africa].
Stellenrust is one of the largest family-owned wine estates in South-Africa. They started their estate in 1928 and expended over the years. Nowadays, they have almost 400 hectares of land spread out over the 'Golden triangle' & Bottelary Hills. This sub-region is not only known because of its impressive landscape, but it is also the residence of the most famous wine producers of the country. The wine maker Tertius Boshoff highly values a fair-trade product. In 2005, they decided to give a little back to their 70 employees & gave them a permanent contract and empowered them on 100 hectares of their land, as main shareholders. The Kleine Rust is a wine from Stellenrust wine estate.

Area | Stellenbosch, South - Africa. |
Alcohol Percentage | 14.1% Vol. |
Vinification & Maturing of the Wine | The grapes come from the vineyards located in the Golden Triangle Farm (Helderberg). After the harvest, the grapes are moved to the cellars. Here, the grapes were kept on the skin for about 3 days (cold maceration). This also allows some natural pre-fermentation. However, the fermentation took place in open stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature (between 24 & 28 degrees Celsius) for about 7 days. During the fermentation, some regular pump overs & punch downs took place. The free run juice is drained & the skins are gently pressed, after the fermentation. To finish, a malolactic formation took place in stainless steel tanks. |
Tasting Notes | In the nose, the wine shows some notes of ripe raspberries & pepper spices. On the palate, the wine is soft, juicy & round. Also, some pleasant tannins & lots of berry fruit. |
Recommendation | We recommend to serve this wine at a temperature between 16 & 18 degrees. A great aperitif or a perfect serve with lamb or beef from the bbq. |
