It belonged for 3 generations to the family Massonie until the late 1990s. Nowadays, the son of Michel Massonie is managing the property. Michel Massonie is founder of the wine brotherhood of Lalande de Pomerol & current president of the grand Conseil des Vins de Bordeaux. Vinfication & Maturing of the Wine | The grapes are harvested by hand & machine, sorted by hand and moved to the cellars of the chateau. The alcoholic fermentation (converting the natural sugars to alcohol) takes place in small concrete vats. The grapes of each parcel is kept separately. After the fermentation, the grapes are left in the stainless steel vats on the skin for about 3 - 5 weeks. After de-vatting, the wines are aged for 12 - 18 months in French oak barrels. |
Tasting Notes | This wine has a beautiful deep ruby red colour with some purple tints. In the nose, the wine is expressive with some ripe fruits, vanilla & spices. Just the right degree of toastiness. In the mouth, the wine has fat, fruity tannins on the mid-palate. A great balanced aftertaste and definitely tempting you to take another sip. |
Recommendation | We recommend to serve this wine at a temperature between 16 & 18 degrees. |
