Château Angludet - Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot & Petit Verdot 2016 [Médoc, France].

First line

The wine estate of Château Angludet belongs to the Sichel Family since 1961, as they bought the property at that time. The wine estate is located in the Médoc on gravel deposits from the Garonne. The estate is surrounded by Grand Cru classé and has been included in the famous 1855 Margaux classification.

The work begun in 1961 by Peter Sichel. Today, Peter & Diana's five sons represent the sixth generation of Sichels involved in the viticulture & wine trading of Chateau Angludet. It is a family-owned business, as the seventh generation recently joined Maison Sichel & Château Angludet.

The vineyards of this incredible chateau are part of the Margaux appellation and are located 30 kilometers North-West of the Bordeaux (South of France). The vineyards have to follow the strict rules of the Margaux appellation and are situated on a broad plateau of Garonne gravel deposits. The soil is made up mainly of gravel & small stones, which results in a poor soil. This forces the vines to develop a deep root system, which results in a better maturity of the grapes, but also in a great quality of the wines.

Vinification & Maturing of the Wine For this wine, traditional vinification is carried out in cement vats and lasts between 20 & 30 days. After the malolactic fermentation, depending on the vintage, the wine goes into barrels for twelve months. The final selection of the wine will depend if the blend will be used for Château Angludet in the following February or March. If not, it will be used for the La Reserve d'Angludet or not. The selection is strict and has a long procedure. Once the final blend has been created, egg white will be added. The wine will is lightly filtered before bottling.
Tasting Notes This amazing wine has a promising ruby hue and is as intense as its distinguished and elegante bouquet of black fruit aromas. Further, the wine subtly highlights the spices, toast & vanilla notes. In the mouth, the palate is charming, elegant & generous. Notes of fruit and smooth tannins offer an amazing length in this wine. Recommended opening this bottle after several years ageing, as this wine is still in its youth.
Recommendation Can be drunk from 2016; will be at its peak after more than ten years’ bottle-ageing. We recommend to serve this wine at a temperature between 16 & 18 degrees Celsius.
